The lifespan of bamboo wall panels depends largely on how well they withstand three key challenges: fluctuations in humidity, UV exposure, and biological degradation.

For outdoor applications, bamboo wall panels typically undergo a deep carbonization process; high temperatures break down the sugars within the bamboo fibers, effectively eliminating the risk of insect infestation. These products are also finished with a UV-resistant coating-acting like "sunscreen" for the bamboo-to delay fading and fiber degradation caused by ultraviolet rays.

Indoor applications prioritize visual aesthetics. The bamboo's distinctive vertical grain creates a natural, minimalist atmosphere, though there are a few points to note:

Light-colored bamboo panels will naturally oxidize to a warm yellow hue over time; this is not a quality defect.
Color variations at the bamboo nodes are a natural characteristic; insisting on absolute uniformity might actually lead you to purchase a dyed product.
